about me
My interest in film programming began in 2020 during lockdowns, during which I undertook online courses in the areas of film curation, distribution, and gender representation in visual media. I began a Master's degree in Film Curation and Exhibition at the Northern Film School, Leeds in 2021, graduating with a Distinction in 2023.
Through gaining operational roles at festivals such as Sheffield DocFest and Leeds International Film Festival, and a curation internship with Raindance, my enthusiasm for festivals grew. I began freelance programming at festivals during my Masters and went on to successfully apply for programming roles at Leeds International Film festival and now my current role as Programme and Outreach Officer.
My festival curatorial focus is mainly contemporary films, particularly those focused on or by women and marginalised genders. This includes narrative and documentary features and shorts. I have a passion for audience development and ensuring festivals and film are accessible to all.
I programme rep cinema through my work with cinemas and DIY screenings, mainly focusing on feminist film, guilty pleasures and interactive screenings.
I feel very comfortable speaking in front of audiences, whether this be hosting Q&As with directors, leading seminars at universities or providing introductions to films I feel passionately about.
